Privacy Policy
About this policy
This policy applies to Runalytics (ABN: 40 693 399 754) and covers personal information handled through the Runalytics app, website, and any connected coaching or dashboard tools.
We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and this policy sets out how we collect, hold, use, and disclose your personal information.
The personal information we collect and hold
What we collect depends on how you use Runalytics. This can include:
Account details — name, email address, password, and profile photo (if you add one)
Runner profile information — running experience, goal race and date, weekly volume, and training preferences used to generate your plan
Training and performance data — pace, distance, duration, heart rate, GPS routes, and workout data, either entered manually or synced from your watch or a connected account such as Strava or Garmin, via our data integration partner, Terra
Communications — messages you send us for support, feedback, or coaching queries
Payment information — if you take a paid plan, billing details are collected and processed by our payment provider [name payment processor, e.g. Stripe]; we do not store full card numbers ourselves
Technical and usage data — IP address, device type, app version, and how you use the app, collected automatically
We don't ask you to provide injury or other health information. If you choose to mention this in a free-text field, such as a support message or coaching comment, we treat it as sensitive information under the APPs and only use it for the purpose you shared it, such as responding to your message.
We try to collect only the information needed to generate and adjust your training plan and run the Runalytics service.
How we collect your personal information
Most of your information is collected directly from you — when you create an account, set up your runner profile, enter training information, message us for support, or make a payment.
We also collect information indirectly, including:
from your watch, or a connected account such as Strava or Garmin (via Terra, our wearable and fitness data integration platform; you must authorise that connection)
automatically, through app and website analytics tools, which record usage and technical data as you use the service
from a coach or clinician you've linked your account to, where applicable
Where practical, we'll tell you at the point of collection why we're asking for particular information.
How we hold and secure your personal information
Your information is stored electronically, and with any third-party services used to run Runalytics (for example, our payment processor).
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure, including:
restricting internal access to personal information to staff who need it to do their job
using access controls
monitoring for unauthorised access where practical
Where we link training and performance data across different parts of Runalytics (for example, using your uploaded workout data to calculate load metrics), we do this to provide the core service and not for any other purpose without telling you.
No system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee the absolute security of your information. If we become aware of a data breach likely to result in serious harm, we'll notify affected individuals and the OAIC in line with our obligations under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Why we collect, hold, use and disclose your information
We collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information to:
create and manage your account
generate, adjust, and reprogram your personalised training plan, including calculating training load and pace zones
flag potential training-load risk based on the training data you share
provide customer support and respond to your enquiries
process payments for paid subscriptions or services
maintain and improve Runalytics, including analysing de-identified usage patterns to refine our training algorithms
communicate with you about your account, service updates, or (with your consent, where required) marketing
meet our legal and regulatory obligations
We don't use or disclose your training information for any purpose unrelated to providing and improving the Runalytics service, and we don't sell your personal information to third parties.
Garmin Connect activity data
If you connect a Garmin device or Garmin Connect account to Runalytics (via our data integration partner, Terra), we receive Garmin activity data, including your workouts, GPS routes, distance, pace, heart rate, and related training metrics.
We use this Garmin activity data solely to generate and adjust your personalised training plan, including calculating training load and pace zones. We do not sell, rent, or otherwise disclose your Garmin activity data to any third party, other than the service providers who help us run Runalytics (such as our hosting and data integration providers), and only as needed to provide the service to you.
You can disconnect Garmin at any time from your Runalytics' account or connected-accounts settings, or directly from your Garmin Connect account under Connected Apps. Disconnecting stops future syncing but does not automatically delete Garmin data we've already received. To request deletion of the Garmin activity data we hold about you, contact us using the details in "Contact us" below, and we'll delete it within 30 days, except where we need to retain it for legal reasons.
Sharing your information, including overseas disclosure
We may share personal information with:
service providers who help us run Runalytics, such as our cloud hosting provider, payment processor, analytics provider, and wearable data integration platform (Terra)
a coach or clinician you've explicitly connected your account to
a professional adviser (for example, our accountant or lawyer), where necessary
a buyer, in the event Runalytics is sold or merged with another business
a regulator or law enforcement body, where required by law
Some of these providers may store or process information overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, but we're not always able to guarantee this to the same standard as under Australian law.
Accessing and correcting your information
Most of your information (profile details and training data) is viewable and editable directly in the app.
You can also request access to, or correction of, any personal information we hold about you by contacting us using the details below. We'll respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first. If we refuse a request, we'll explain why and let you know how to complain about that decision.
Making a privacy complaint
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, contact us first using the details below, with enough detail for us to look into it. We'll acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):

Retention and other matters
Retention. We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution needs. When it's no longer needed, we'll delete or de-identify it.
Cookies and analytics. Our website and app may use cookies or similar tracking technologies to keep you logged in and to understand how the service is used. You can control cookies through your browser or device settings.
Anonymity. You generally can't use Runalytics anonymously, because generating an accurate training plan requires an identified account and personal training data. You can contact us with a general enquiry without creating an account.
Children. Runalytics isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 without parental consent.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Runalytics' features and information-handling practices change. The current version, with its date, will always be available in the app and on our website free of charge. We'll flag material changes to users where practical.
